To those of you who are unfamiliar us here is a little background: Pebbles is a family run business which was formed by myself, Victoria Banner, and my brother the potter John Bedding. My partnership with John was wound down when he went on to establish St Ives Ceramics in the early 1990s. After 34 years, in May 2016 I retired, our shops were closed and our jewellery is now available online only.
My daughter Kate, ace manger of Pebbles, Allison our invaluable assistant and myself would like to give a big thank you to all the customers we've seen in our shops over all those years....
Soon after opening Pebbles I began to seek out locally handmade designer jewellery. In 1982, when we opened our first shop in St Ives, finding studio crafted jewellery was far from easy, but little by little the nucleus of the collection we show today was formed. Now locally, in the rest of Britain and abroad, the craft of making jewellery is thriving, with many new and talented jewellers joining the scene every year. The problem now is less finding it but choosing! Pebbles specialises in largely in hand-crafted silver jewellery, some pieces are accented with gold, precious and semi-precious stones, including diamond, opal, pearl, ruby, sapphire, amethyst, garnet and peridot. We also show some of the innovative earrings, bracelets and necklaces being created using mixed metals including copper, brass, bronze. We also have some very unusual gold jewellery.
On these pages we show the work of established jewellers, alongside that of exciting newcomers. Although we feature jewellery from Britain and the West Country, we also show some of the most interesting work being produced elsewhere in the world. Our many years of experience have helped us to build an unrivalled selection for you to enjoy, bringing together a collection of work not readily available on every high street.
So whether you are looking for the perfect gift for a special birthday, wedding anniversary or Christmas, or if you just want to treat yourself, you can be sure to find something unusual or unique in our online gallery.
