Caroline King
Designer Information...
Caroline King was born in Penzance, early in the 1960’s. After leaving school she first took a painting course at the Penlee School of Art; and subsequently became a fabric artist, working in all aspects of the art including weaving, tapestry, quilting and appliqué, at the Barbican. Penzance. Later Caroline trained as a sign-writer and went on to work in Botswana, South Africa. There she undertook the sign-writing for some important public buildings, including Seretse Kharma Airport. In 1988 Caroline returned to the UK and for the next eight years she worked in catering in London and Cornwall. In 1997 she started her training in gold and silversmithing at the Morrab Road Art Education Centre, Penzance and has since worked continuously as a jeweller. Recently Caroline moved from Penzance to settle with her husband and daughter in Connemara, Eire. She plans to further increase her skill and develop her creativity by undertaking a diploma in silversmithing at Kilkenny College.
