Michele White
Designer Information...
Jewellery Designer and Gemmologist Michele White was born and educated in London. In 1970 she relocated to Birmingham, where for several years she was a teacher of autistic children. However, in the pursuit of a means of self-expression Michele enrolled at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, where she learned the traditional techniques of working with precious metals. She was the winner of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists National Prize in the year 2000. Michele comments: "Each unique gemstone inspires its own design. The shape and the markings of semi-precious stones can be enhanced by the sensitive use of the metal. Silver and 18 carat gold together complement each other. Many of the gemstones I use have markings that are reminiscent of landscapes. They often look as though they were painted by an artist, but are completely natural."
