To those of you who are unfamiliar with us, here is a little bit of background: Pebbles is a family run business which was established, originally to sell ceramics, at the beginning of the nineteen eighties in St Ives. Soon after opening Victoria Banner, co-founder of Pebbles, began to seek out locally made jewellery, she comments:
“It was hard to find studio crafted jewellery back then, but little by little the nucleus of the collection we show today was formed. Now locally, in the rest of Britain and abroad, the craft of making jewellery is thriving, with many new and talented jewellers joining the scene every year. The problem now is less finding it but choosing it! Jewellery appeals in so many ways. It may be chosen simply to complement the wearer, or as a statement of self expression and of course, as a treasured token reminding us of special times in our lives."
On these pages is shown the work of established jewellers, alongside that of exciting newcomers. Although much of what is to be seen here features jewellery from Britain and the West Country we also show some of the very innovative work being produced elsewhere.
